Claims Conference Cancelled

The 2020 PLRB Claims Conference & Insurance Services Expo has been canceled due to risks presented by the COVID-19 virus. This is the first time the Claims Conference has been cancelled since it began in 1947. PLRB's Claims Conference is the highlight of our annual offerings and the largest of our live meetings, bringing together thousands of industry professionals and service providers from across the nation. Thus, the decision to cancel was not taken lightly or without careful consideration and consultation.

PLRB staff monitored the COVID-19 situation closely leading up to the cancellation. Based on the latest information from the CDC, and in consultation with the host hotel and convention center, we were working to make the event safer for attendees by providing sanitizing stations and updating our health and safety guidelines.

On the evening of Saturday, March 7, the New Jersey Department of Health notified Maryland officials that a recent visitor of the Gaylord National Hotel tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Although many cases of COVID-19 cause only mild symptoms, the virus can cause serious health issues for many individuals, and PLRB considers the heath of its attendees and exhibitors, and their families, as a top priority. Therefore, though we had come so far and were looking forward to a successful and productive Conference, PLRB moved swiftly to cancel the event and notify all who planned to attend.

To all of our attendees who were planning to attend, we apologize for the inconvenience this cancellation has caused and will offer full refunds for all paid PLRB registration fees and Expo booth registration fees. Expo Booth fees can also be applied to next year's event. No action is necessary on the part of our attendees, and we appreciate your patience as PLRB staff works diligently to administer those refunds and transfers. For additional information on our cancellation policy, please contact Mike Brode at mbrode@plrb.org.

PLRB will work to preserve the hard work its presenters poured into preparation for this conference, and to provide the education our members are looking for. Many of the speakers planned for our educational sessions have agreed to return next year. Others will be featured in our upcoming Hot Topics from the Claims Conference webinar series, or on our PLRB on Demand podcast. Online CE Modules on a variety of claims topics are available at no additional cost for PLRB members and affiliates.

We at PLRB feel a deep appreciation for our members and the outpouring of support we have received in the wake of this news. PLRB is a member-run, not-for-profit organization that exists to serve its members, so we appreciate your continued support. Please do not hesitate to contact us with questions, concerns, or requests for topics.

Met people who I've wanted to identify and meet for many years.
